Here is the latest South Carolina Gamecocks News, starting with a football recruiting update.
On Sunday, South Carolina football picked up a commitment from 4-star wide receiver Zy’marion Lang. The Palmetto, Florida native also plays defensive back and has been recruited by Gamecock defensive backs coach Torrian Gray.
2024 4-star athlete KingJoseph Edwards officially named the Gamecocks a finalist along with Texas, Oklahoma, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, TCU, and Florida State. The EDGE/tight end prospect has an extremely high ceiling at either position if he can put it all together at the college level.
One of Carolina’s top targets in the class of 2025 is Jontae Gilbert. Gilbert was committed to Ohio State but backed off of his pledge over the weekend. Gilbert was on a visit to Columbia (his third in three months) just before decommitting from the Buckeyes.
2025 4-star tight end Ethan Barbour put South Carolina football in his top-8 schools. The other finalists for Barbour are Auburn, Georgia, Alabama, Texas, Southern Cal, Ohio State, and Florida State.

Sixth-year pro Chris Lammons signed a new deal with the Indianapolis Colts. He joins fellow former Gamecock Darius Rush in the secondary room in Indianapolis.
A rookie Gamecock alum could be in line to start sooner than expected in the NFL.
Miami Dolphins cornerback Cam Smith was already one of the top contenders to start for the ‘Phins at the slot corner spot, but with the knee injury (and subsequent surgery) of Jalen Ramsey, Smith is now poised to start on the outside.
South Carolina basketball recruiting made a little bit of news last week, as well.
In-state 5-star wing Cam Scott officially announced his final six schools and his commitment date. Scott will be deciding between South Carolina, Texas, Oregon, Auburn, Alabama, and Ole Miss on August 11th.
Sharpshooting wing Trent Noah announced an official visit to Columbia this fall. The 6’6″ Kentucky native is believed to be making his commitment before his final high school season, and the Gamecocks are high on his list.
So did Mark Kingston’s baseball team.
The Gamecocks added a late commitment from class of 2023 pitcher Jake McCoy. The big-time lefty was previously committed to Wofford but backed off of that pledge due to a coaching change and an increased amount of attention from bigger programs.
The Yardcocks also had 2024 right-handed pitcher Ryder Garino make a public commitment as well. Nicknamed “The Slim Reaper,” Garino has a high ceiling and has come a long way in his sophomore and junior seasons of high school.
