South Carolina basketball fans have a new date to mark on their calendars. August 11th is now set to be the decision date for Lexington High School 5-star wing Cam Scott.

Scott, as expected, released his official top-6 on Wednesday, and the Gamecocks made the cut. In the same announcement, Scott also revealed that his commitment date would be coming in just about two weeks.

Live at 2:00 on Friday, August 11th, the highest-rated prospect in the state of South Carolina will announce between South Carolina, Auburn, Alabama, Oregon, Ole Miss, and Texas.

Scott’s recruitment has been relatively quiet, though schools like Kansas and Southern Cal who were favorites early on in the process fell off in recent months. Oregon and Alabama have not always been involved in Scott’s process, but he likes both of those programs.

Three teams that have been constants in Scott’s recruitment have been South Carolina, Auburn, and Texas, and the 6’5″ shooting guard also has a long relationship with Ole Miss coach Chris Beard from when he was at Texas.

Lamont Paris and the South Carolina basketball coaching staff have had some optimism in their efforts at keeping Scott home. A big-time scorer, Scott would enter any program with a chance to be an impact player immediately.

As a prospect, Scott is a plus-athlete who can score from all three levels. His outside shot is improving, and he is one of the best mid-range assassins in the country. When he attacks the rim, he flies in with an aggression that is bigger than most players who have a 180-pound frame like he does.

He is a true shooting guard but could play the 3-spot if needed at the college level. He is too thin to play physically for long stretches against forwards, but his length and athleticism would allow him to compete up a position for shorter periods.

If Scott can add some good weight at the next level, he could become a legitimate superstar no matter where he ends up committing in August.
