Cam Scott is the top player in South Carolina for the 2024 recruiting class. The 6’5″ wing has been a major priority for South Carolina basketball since he was a freshman and Frank Martin was the headman for the Gamecocks. The importance of Scott’s recruitment was passed on to Lamont Paris when he got the job, and Paris’ staff is pushing for Scott heavily.

Scott is listed as either a 4-star or 5-star prospect depending on which recruiting service one checks, and he is a consensus top-50 player nationally. He is a big-time shot-maker who makes difficult looks seem easy, and he has the ability to develop into an elite outside shooter, as well.

Because he has been playing varsity ball at Lexington High School and high-level AAU ball since the 8th grade, his game is a lot more polished than many other high school prospects.

Scott is no stranger to accolades and awards, and in recent days, he received another. At the 2023 Pangos All-American Camp in Las Vegas, Nevada, Scott was chosen as the co-MVP along with 5-star big man Flory Bidunga from Kokomo, Indiana.

Scott averaged almost 25 points per game and shot over 50% from behind the arc in the showcase.

His impressive showing included this NASTY poster dunk.

For those unfamiliar with the showcase, the Pangos All-American Camp is a big deal. Former Pangos All-American Camp participants include current NBA superstars like James Harden, Brad Beal, Russell Westbrook, Trae Young, Anthony Davis, and Kyle Lowry. In fact, 156 Pangos All-American Camp alums have been drafted into the NBA, including 8 who were drafted first overall.

According to On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine, South Carolina basketball is the favorite to land Scott, but Auburn, Texas, and Oregon are heavily involved. Tennessee, Kansas, Florida State, and Alabama are factors, as well, and it has been long-rumored that Scott would love an offer from Duke.

Scott’s recruitment has been a relatively quiet one, and he has not set a timeline for his college decision.

The Gamecocks are also heavily involved with South Carolina’s 2nd-ranked prospect, Elijah Crawford.
