South Carolina football is in the middle of a huge June of official visits and recruiting pushes. The Gamecocks have already had two big weekends of official (and unofficial) visits in which a bevy of blue chip prospects have descended upon Columbia, South Carolina.

All reports have indicated that the high school recruits have all had great weekend visits. Some prospects have left their visits and immediately taken to social media to say positive things about the South Carolina football program. Others have gone as far as to call the Gamecocks the leader in their recruitments.

On Monday, Shane Beamer sent the fans of his team into a frenzy with his patented #WelcomeHome Tweet that teased out a commitment to the Gamecocks.

Beamer’s tweet seemed to indicate that the new commitment was on campus for one of the two big recruiting weekends this month.

This past weekend, South Carolina commitment Michael Smith (4-star TE) was joined on campus by some big-time targets. Kam Mikell (4-star DB), Nasir Johnson (4-star DL), Daniel “DD” Holmes (4-star EDGE), Malcolm Ziglar (4-star DB), Fred Johnson (3-star LB), Mason Love (5-star P), Matthew Fuller (3-star RB), Quintavius Johnson (3-star DL), Kaleb Harris (3-star S), and Nnamdi Ogboko (3-star DL) were all in Columbia.

Last weekend, Jalewis Solomon (4-star DB), Braylen Russell (4-star RB), D’Nas White (3-star DL), Parker Livingstone (4-star WR), Kaj Sanders (4-star DB), and Chasen Johnson (3-star DB) visited the Gamecocks. Quarterback commitment Dante Reno was also on campus for an unofficial visit, and the talented signal caller was as excited as the fans were to hear of another commitment.

Based on the list of visitors from the past two weekends, several names stick out when considering who the silent commitment might be.

Matthew Fuller, a 3-star running back out of the state of Georgia, has been publicly speaking very highly about the Gamecocks. He does not have many big offers, but the Gamecocks have pushed hard for him, indicating that there is something about his film or his athletic profile that the South Carolina coaching staff really likes.

Fred “JayR” Johnson, a 3-star linebacker from Virginia, tested off the charts athletically when he was on a recent unofficial visit. He earned an offer and immediately scheduled an official visit. On Monday, Johnson announced a commitment date. The Norfolk native will be announcing his commitment this weekend. Could he be Coach Beamer’s #WelcomeHome?

The weekend of June 23rd-25th will see an even greater amount of talent on campus. Most of the committed players in the class will be in Columbia along with priority targets Dylan Stewart (5-star EDGE; #1 player in America), Jonathan Paylor (4-star WR), Walter Matthews (4-star TE), Daniel Hill (4-star RB), Jordan Thomas (4-star DL) also in for official visits.

June has been a big month of commitments for South Carolina football under Shane Beamer. Last year, the Gamecocks brought in seven new pledges during the month, so, likely, this silent commitment will not be the last. Whether it is Johnson or Fuller or someone else, Carolina fans will likely be celebrating with one eye still on Coach Beamer’s Twitter account as more is sure to come.
