The South Carolina football program hosted some big-time targets in the 2024 class this weekend. Blue chip talent from all over the country descended upon the Long Family Football Operations Center, and the Gamecock coaching staff was hard at work selling head coach Shane Beamer’s vision for South Carolina football.

Based on the reaction of some of the players on campus for visits, it appears the recruiting weekend was a resounding success.

4-star athlete Daniel Hill was one of the elite players in Columbia this weekend, and, as expected, he had positive things to say about his visit. The high school running back/wide receiver told On3’s Hayes Fawcett that he has felt “like it was home” each time he has visited Columbia and that “everything excites [him] about South Carolina.”

Shortly after he wrapped up his trip to the University of South Carolina, Hill released his 8 finalists.

South Carolina, Alabama, LSU, Penn State, Tennessee, Mississippi State, Auburn, and Michigan all made the cut in Hill’s list of top-8 teams.

For a while now, Hill has been viewed as having a significant gap between his top-2 and the rest of the field. South Carolina and Alabama have appeared to be ahead of the rest of the pack in their pursuits of the talented athlete.

Hill is expected to play running back at the college level, and the Gamecocks have been recruiting him primarily as a running back. At 6’2″ and 225 pounds, Hill has the size to step in immediately as an SEC running back, but he has impressive speed for a player of his size as he won two different state championships in track and field in the state of Mississippi.

The Meridian, Mississippi native recently said that South Carolina, Alabama, Auburn, and Tennessee were standing out in his recruitment, but he has also had really good things to say about his other finalists (Mississippi State, LSU, Penn State, and Michigan).
