Superlatives for South Carolina football 2022 recruiting class

This Recruit Will Play a Variety of Roles for the South Carolina Football Team
Three-star athlete Nick Emmanwori lands the honor of most versatile recruit as he could wind up playing in a variety of different areas along the South Carolina defense.
The local product is listed as a safety by 24/7 Sports and as a linebacker by Rivals. At 6-foot-4 and 200 pounds, he should provide defensive coordinator Clayton White with some flexibility in scheme. Past Gamecock defenses have thrived with the hybrid role most often referred to as the “Spur” position.
Think of players like Antonio Allen and Devonte Holloman when trying to picture how Emmanwori could impact the Gamecocks’ defense. Someone that can cover tight ends and backs but who’s not afraid to come up and make a tackle in the run game.
Emmanwori committed to Shane Beamer and the Gamecocks back in early July. He chose his hometown university over offers from Charlotte, Georgia Southern, and Ricmond. He made that pledge official on Wednesday.
Here’s what coach Beamer had to say about the versatile prospect following his signing.
"“He’s one of those guys that we’re really excited about. Torrian [Gray] is fighting to get him in the secondary, Clayton [White] is fighting to keep him at linebacker, Mike [Peterson] is fighting to get him up there where he can rush the passer… We offered him thinking he could be a lot of different things, offense, defense, multiple positions as he continues to grow… He’s one I throw in there who can potentially play a lot of different positions on our defense.”"
It may take some time for the coaching staff to figure out how to best use the defender, but expect to see Emmanwori impacting the game in many different ways throughout his Gamecock career.
