South Carolina football: Jason Brown updates Twitter profile with hilarious photo
By Jacob Elsey
South Carolina football’s Jason Brown started his first game under center last week in the Gamecocks’ win over Florida. The victory came in Brown’s first ever SEC start following a two-year stint at FCS level program Saint Francis.
The transfer quarterback showed out in South Carolina’s 40-17 win over the Gators, leading the offense to its most points ever scored in the series. Brown threw for 175 yards on 14-of-24 passing. He connected with wideouts Josh Vann and Jaheim Bell for scores to help the Gamecocks get within one win of bowl eligibility.
Shortly after the big win, the newly appointed starter made a hilarious update to his Twitter profile page.
His new cover photo is a still frame from the Adam Sandler movie The Waterboy. For those unfamiliar with the comedy, the plot is one in which lowly waterboy Bobby Boucher (Sandler) makes the improbable climb up the South Central Louisiana State football team’s depth chart to help lead the Mud Dogs to a championship. Cropped into the photo are Brown and head coach Shane Beamer, who takes the place of the Mud Dog’s coach Klein (Harry Winkler).
It seems like a rather fitting photo considering Brown’s elevation from third-stringer to QB1. With Brown under center, the Gamecocks looked like a completely new team, much like the impact that Boucher had on the Mud Dogs.
Brown also has a Waterboy impression, which he shared on social media earlier in the year. Check it out below.
Brown looks to lead the Gamecocks to a second straight win when South Carolina travels to Missouri on Saturday. Kickoff is set for 4 PM as the Gamecocks look to earn their sixth win of the season and bowl eligibility.
