South Carolina football: Gamecocks vs. Missouri Tigers odds and prediction for college football week 11 matchup.

The South Carolina football team is gearing up for another SEC road matchup, this time, a trip to CoMo to face off against the Missouri Tigers. The Gamecocks got November started with a bang with a 40-17 victory over the Florida Gators last Saturday. It was South Carolina’s second SEC win of the year, and easily the team’s most impressive. They’ll hope to keep the momentum rolling as we creep closer and closer to the end of the regular season.

Missouri enters the matchup following a 43-6 shellacking at the hands of top ranked Georgia over the weekend. That loss dropped the Tigers to 4-5 on the year and 1-4 in conference play. Can they get things back on track against the Gamecocks this weekend?

The Tigers were able to win last year’s meeting in Williams-Brice Stadium by a score of 17-10 to give Missouri a 6-5 overall advantage in the series. South Carolina can get back to even with a win, which would also boost them into bowl eligibility. It’s an important game for both programs as they battle towards the postseason.

Let’s take a look at the upcoming contest and check out the Gamecocks’ chances of taking down the Tigers.

South Carolina football vs. Missouri Tigers prediction week 11.

This has been a competitive series for the most part, with both teams trading wins since the Tigers’ inception into the SEC in 2012. The Gamecocks won three straight between 2016 and 2018 but Missouri stormed back with consecutive wins in ’19 and ’20.

Who will take the 2021 edition?

It appears that these two teams are trending in different directions after last weekend. Missouri was a no show against Georgia, but then again, who hasn’t been? The Tigers have a win over Vanderbilt, close defeats to Boston College and Kentucky, and a couple of blowout losses at the hands of the Bulldogs, Tennessee, and Texas A&M.

South Carolina is coming off their best win of the year, and they finally found a pulse on offense, but the resume is eerily similar. The Gamecocks dropped a close one to Kentucky, were destroyed by A&M, Tennessee, and Georgia, and escaped with a close victory over Vandy.

The key here will be South Carolina’s offense and their success against Missouri’s defense. If the Gamecocks can continue to move the ball as they did last week, they could cruise to a comfortable win. And they’ll certainly have their chances when facing a Tiger defense that ranks dead last in the SEC in both yards allowed and scoring. If the Gamecocks revert back to the offense we saw in the first eight games, though, it will be a long day.

We’re expecting to see somewhere in between.

Missouri’s offense has been its strongest unit, averaging over 430 yards a game. Running back Tyler Badie leads the SEC in rushing and he’ll be a focal point for the Tigers on Saturday.

This will likely stay close throughout.

PREDICTION

Both teams will look to find success on the ground. As mentioned, Badie is the league’s leading rusher having already eclipsed the 1,000 yard mark on the season. The Gamecocks had two different rushers go over 100 yards last weekend in route to a 284-yard day against Florida.

Personally, we will look to the defenses for our prediction. The Gamecocks have a sizeable advantage on that side of the ball, ranking fifth in yards allowed and first in turnovers forced. We expect that to be the difference in a back-and-forth contest.

We’re predicting the Gamecocks escape with a second consecutive SEC win in an affair that will be lower scoring than what the experts think.
