South Carolina Football: 10 Players that Gamecocks are Glad to See Leave the SEC
By Jacob Elsey
JUSTIN JEFFERSON
Another player the Gamecocks get the luxury of avoiding is Burrow’s top target Justin Jefferson. Jefferson was one of an SEC record 14 players on the LSU team to be drafted in 2020, going 22nd overall to the Minnesota Vikings.
The junior caught 18 touchdown passes a season ago, second only to his fellow teammate, Ja’Maar Chase (20). To put it into perspective, the South Carolina offense produced just 12 receiving touchdowns all season long.
Chase hauled in 111 catches, tied for tops in the NCAA, and tallied 1,540 receiving yards. His 7.4 receptions per game also ranked among the top 10 nationally. The Gamecock secondary, which should be one of the better groups on the defensive side of the ball, is fortunate in not having to face off against the talented pass catcher in 2020.
