THE TOP PICK

After being selected by San Francisco in the second round of last year’s draft, Deebo Samuel experienced a breakout rookie season, hauling in 57 receptions for 802 yards and three touchdowns.  The do-it-all receiver also ran for 159 yards and another three touchdowns on 14 carries.

Samuel finished as the second-leading receiver on the 49ers’ team, behind tight end George Kittle.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan has found unique ways of getting the ball in Samuel’s hand, whether it be in the screen game, end arounds, having him line up in the backfield, or as a deep threat.  He can score from anywhere on the field, and should see even more usage in 2020.

Unfortunately, the second-year receiver suffered a broken toe earlier this month, but if his injury heals as planned, he should be back on the field in two to three months.  Samuel remains a top-35 wide receiver option according to FantasyPros.com despite the setback.
