ZAQUANDRE WHITE

This is the wildcard, here, as White hasn’t yet gotten to campus, although he’s been a member of the 2020 recruiting class since February.  The junior college transfer still had some coursework to complete prior to enrolling.

The talent is certainly there, though.  White committed to play for Florida State out of high school, but the coaching staff had him playing on the defensive side of the ball.  After one season, he left Tallahassee for Iowa Western Community College, where he’d be switched to running back.

Last season in JUCO, he averaged 109 rushing yards per game and scored 10 touchdowns.  He’s now looking to prove himself at the highest level.  And with the Gamecocks’ top three rushers gone from a year ago, he will find himself in the middle of a healthy running back competition should he make it to Columbia.

White could also be a threat in the return game as he possesses the speed and explosiveness to make an impact as a kick returner.  He returned 10 kickoffs and a punt last season with Iowa Western.

The South Carolina running back rotation could be a bit of a revolving door up until someone takes the reins.  White might just be that person.
