AARON STERLING

The Carolina defensive line lost two draft picks a season ago with the departures of DJ Wonnum an Javon Kinlaw.  Most Gamecock fans may be surprised to know that last year’s team leader in sacks and tackles for loss is returning in 2020, though.

Aaron Sterling recorded six sacks and 10 tackles for loss a season ago.  He doesn’t wow you with his size or freakish abilities, but he’s a fighter that always seems to find himself in the opponent’s backfield.  After two relatively quiet seasons, he broke out with a very productive junior year.

Still, he was overshadowed in the conference and even on his own team, as he watched others garner the postseason accolades.  As a senior leader for the Gamecocks in 2020, look for Sterling to make his final mark on the South Carolina football program and become a star along the front four.
