CLEMSON

The Tigers entered this game on a three-game winning streak in the Palmetto State series, even defeating Carolina’s Final Four team a few years back.  The streak would come to a screeching halt this season though, as the Gamecocks controlled the contest from start to finish.

South Carolina held Clemson to 28% shooting, and limited them to only 54 points.  AJ Lawson scored 20, and Maik Kotsar and Jair Bolden both finished in double figures.

The Tigers never led by more than three, which occurred on their first possession of the game, and Carolina would take a commanding lead in the second half that ballooned to as many as 15.

The 67-54 win gave the ‘Cocks its first win in the series since 2015, and its first win in Littlejohn Coliseum since 2011.  It also gave the Gamecocks a 41-40 lead in the overall series.  Frank Martin’s crew would build upon this win, beating another ACC foe on the road just a week later.
