Garnet and Cocky: What do you think it would take for the Gamecocks to keep this game even remotely close?

Rubbing the Rock: At this point, I think it’s pretty obvious that Clemson is just the more talented team and that the Tigers have more depth.

With that being said, crazier things have happened in the rivalry game.

For South Carolina to keep it close and make a game out of this one, I think they’ll need to create pressure on Lawrence. Take away the run game and force Clemson to beat you through the air. I think you’ll need to see the Gamecocks disguise their coverages and bring extra blitzers to try and get to Lawrence.

Jake Bentley will need to play a near-flawless game and take advantage of some holes Clemson has had in its zone coverage at times this year.

In short, I think the recipe for South Carolina is to get the Tiger offense out of sync and force the Clemson defense to stay on the field for as long as they can.
