4. Coach Frank Martin Receives National Coach of the Year Award

After their historic postseason run, South Carolina basketball coach Frank Martin was awarded the 2017 Jim Phelan National Coach of the Year. Frank Martin is beloved by Gamecocks fans and was highly praised for his leadership on and off the court during their tournament run. Martin was very well deserved of this highest distinction a college basketball coach can receive.

Martin not only led a 7 seed to the Final Four, but he also was widely heralded for the example he was setting for the young men he coaches.
