The WNBA was put on notice on Friday night, as Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever put on a show. Taking on former South Carolina Gamecock Zia Cooke and the Seattle Storm on the road, Indiana was looking for a bounce-back win following an 88-75 loss to the Golden State Valkyries on Wednesday night.Â
Indiana did just that, led by a historic night by Clark, who is in her second season in the WNBA. She scored the first-ever 45 points of her career, adding 10 assists to lead her team to a 110-107 victory. The game marked the first-ever 40-10 game in WNBA history. Her teammate, Kelsey Mitchell added 30 points in the win.

HERstory was made by Caitlin Clark this evening! Let's run the milestones and stat line back:

It looked like Indiana was on-pace for an easy victory early, but the Storm, who trailed by 17 in the first half, fought back to make it a 59-56 game at halftime. In the third quarter, Seattle tied the game at 88 and even had an eight-point lead in the fourth. But Clark and the Fever tied the game up at 102 with less than a minute left, and a deep three by Clark gave her team a 105-102 lead. Clark was able to seal it at the line to eke out the three-point win, finishing 15-of-17 from the line. Former South Carolina star Aliyah Boston was out with a lower leg injury, and did not suit up.
Seattle's offense was led by Dominique Malonga, who had 28 points and 14 rebounds, and Awa Fam and Natisha Hiederman, who added 16 and 15 points, respectively. But it wasn't enough to hold off the Fever, who shot 50% from the floor. Cooke played eight minutes in the loss, scoring five points and adding an assist.Â
Perhaps even more impressive other than Clark's 45 is that she became the quickest player in league history to make 200 threes across 74 games. She broke the previous record of 81, which was set by Katie Smith. The second-year Fever star added four steals and two blocks to her huge night.
Indiana improves to 15-10 with the victory, whereas the Storm fell to 6-21 on the year. For the Fever, it'll be a quick turnaround as Indiana takes on the New York Liberty at home on Saturday night. Cooke and the storm, meanwhile, play the Minnesota Lynx Monday evening at home.
