For nearly a century, Williams-Brice Stadium has been the center stage where Gamecock legends have been made. Forged from concrete and time, history echoes throughout the turnstiles and tunnels. Now, that history is ready to meet the future. South Carolina Athletics has officially received state approval to launch a multi-year construction project that will reimagine Williams-Brice Stadium. The plan will transform the stadium into a modern, fan-first, state-of-the-art venue while still honoring its deep traditions.
A Vision for Every Gamecock Fan
The Williams-Brice Reimagined Project will be built on four key pillars, according to the school website:
- For All: Enhancing gameday for every fan, creating memories for generations.
- Legacy & Tradition: Bridging the past with the future of Gamecock football.
- Home: Building a place of belonging that unites South Carolinians.
- Pride of the State: A year-round venue showcasing South Carolina’s culture and beauty.
Survey Results Show Overwhelming Support
A fan survey generated more than 5,600 responses, over 2,000 more than expected, and revealed some staggering support:
- 94% believe a stadium upgrade is important.
- 93% attend one or more games per year.
- 86% identify as avid fans.
- 73% are promoters of the gameday experience.
The data also highlighted where Williams-Brice fell short compared to SEC peers. South Carolina falls last in the premium seating percentage and dead last in suite counts. This renovation will change that dramatically.
Key Areas of Transformation
The reimagination will focus on three major areas:
Fan Experience
Premium Offerings
Student-Athlete Experience

Stadium Circulation
- New elevators, escalators, and stairwells will replace south ramps, improving flow.
- Expanded concourses on the West Main and West Upper levels will add restrooms and concessions.
- A North 100-Level Concourse will connect both ramps with standing-room views of the field.
- A new loading dock will open the stadium for year-round concerts and events.
Concessions and Restrooms
- Marketplace Grab-n-Go stands will reduce wait times.
- A large-scale commercial kitchen will ensure fresh food and faster service.
- New, larger restrooms will be constructed on the busiest concourses to meet industry standards.
The Cockpit (Student Section)
- Concourse space per student will increase from 1.5 sq. ft. to 5 sq. ft.
- Permanent concessions and restrooms will be added.
- A new 100-level concourse will connect ramps at the top of the student section, with additional standing-room space and amenities.
Premium Upgrades
Williams-Brice will see a massive boost in premium seating, clubs, and suites:
- Founders Club & Suites: Ultra high-end 100-level suites with private entrance, elevators, and a 5,600 sq. ft. club.
- 200 Level Club & Suites: Full suite level with club access across the west side.
- 100 Level Clubs: 1,600 club seats with access to two enclosed 9,500 sq. ft. clubs.
- Field Club: 1,200 seats at field level with direct access through sections 4, 5, and 6.
Student-Athlete Enhancements
The renovation project will also invest in the team:
- A new locker room, recruit lounge, and training facilities.
- Modernized equipment rooms and coach/trainer locker rooms.
- Relocation of the visiting team locker room for better operations.
Why Renovate Now?
The survey made things clear with fans demanding upgrades, and the numbers back it up. Williams-Brice Stadium ranks at the bottom of the SEC in premium seating and suite counts, while fan flow concessions, and restrooms have been far below standards. This reimagination project will change all of that, creating a Williams-Brice that s built for the next century of Gamecock football.
