All 32 NFL teams have reported for training camp this month, as the 2026-27 NFL season is less than two months away. The South Carolina Gamecocks had three players drafted in the 2026 NFL Draft, including cornerback Brandon Cisse, who was taken in the second round by the Green Bay Packers.
Cisse spent the first two seasons of his collegiate career at NC State, but transferred to South Carolina for his 2025 season. For the Gamecocks, Cisse wore jersey number 15. During his two seasons with the Wolfpack, he wore No. 25 and No. 2.
For the Packers, Cisse has chosen to go back to his No. 2 jersey number. In a recent interview, the former Gamecocks said the number is both one that his older brother used to wear, as well as honoring one of his favorite NFL players, former Packers cornerback Charles Woodson.
“If you guys know Charles Woodson in the Rose Bowl, he had the roses in his mouth and wore No. 2,” Cisse said. “I’ve always been a fan of his game, and I always liked No. 2, so that’s kind of why I wear it.”

Woodson played both cornerback and was a return specialist for the Michigan Wolverines from 1995-1997. He won the Heisman for the Wolverines in 1997, helping lead Michigan to a Rose Bowl victory over the Washington State Cougars in 1997. He was drafted in the first round at No. 4 overall by the Oakland Raiders and spent the first eight years of his NFL career there. He then spent seven seasons with the Packers from 2006-12, helping Green Bay win Super Bowl XLV during the 2010-11 season. He then returned to Oakland to finish out his NFL career from 2013-15.
Not a bad player to model your game after, I'd say. If Cisse even comes close to having the career Woodson did, it'll be a huge success.

Cisse is a native of Sumter, S.C. During the spring football season with the Gamecocks, he was named the spring newcomer of the year. Although South Carolina finished with a tough 4-8 record in 2026, Cisse had a solid season in Columbia, despite the Gamecocks' losing season. He finished the year with 27 total tackles including a career-high 19 solo stops with five passes defended and an interception.
In Green Bay, Cisse gets to learn from a talented defensive backs room that features starting cornerbacks Carrington Valentine and Keisan Nixon from last season, as well as talented safety Xavier McKinney. The defense also includes star EDGE rusher Micah Parsons.
Cisse could potentially see the field during Green Bay's preseason games that start Aug. 13 against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Packers will open their 2026 regular season on Sunday, Sept. 13 against the Minnesota Vikings.
