South Carolina defensive line coach and former Gamecock standout Travian Robertson was involved in a car accident Friday morning and was taken to a local hospital, according to multiple reports.
Head coach Shane Beamer released a statement on Friday evening saying Robertson is in stable condition and is expected to make a full recovery.
"Travian Robertson was involved in a car accident this morning," Beamer said in a statement released by the University. "He is currently in the hospital in stable condition. We expect him to make a full recovery and be back out on the field soon. Please keep the families of those involved in the accident in your prayers and respect the Robertson family's privacy during this time."
TheBigSpur.com's Tony Morell was the first to report that Robertson was in a head-on collision and required immediate ankle surgery.
Robertson, 36, is entering his third season on the Gamecock staff. A former Gamecock defensive tackle, he lettered from 2007-2011, served as team captain in 2011, and was selected in the seventh round of the 2012 NF Drafe by the Atlanta Falcons. Robertson also spent time with the Seattle Seahawks and Washington Redskins before beginning his coaching career.
South Carolina will open their 2025-26 season in Atlanta when they face off against Virginia Tech on August 31.
