The South Carolina Gamecocks' offense got off to a huge start in Week 1, defeating Kent State 57-0. Kendal Briles' new offense put up 645 total yards of offense, and quarterback LaNorris Sellers looked quite comfortable.
But of course, the Gamecocks' season doesn't end with Kent State. In Week 2, South Carolina will take on the FCS Towson Tigers, in what will be the first-ever meeting between the two programs. Towson has started 0-2 on the season, losing in Week Zero to Maine 21-18, and falling 42-15 to Navy in Annapolis.
Several sportsbooks do not have game odds listed for this game (sometimes FCS vs. FBS lines are not listed in sportsbooks). But the few that do have the Gamecocks as even heavier favorites than they were for the Kent State Game. Let's take a look at South Carolina's odds against the Tigers for Week 2.

As you can see, South Carolina could have an even better day against Towson. Last week, the Gamecocks were listed as 36-point favorites, and won by 57. Of course, Las Vegas odds are just best estimates of what the final scores will be. But for South Carolina fans who had to sit through last year's 4-8 finish, paired with an abysmal offense, it's a welcomed change.
In speaking with the media this week, Gamecocks offensive coordinator Kendal Briles said he was pleased with how his unit did in Week 1 against the Golden Flashes.
“We didn’t turn the ball over is the main thing," Briles said via Gamecock Central. And then limited missed assignments. We had a false start penalty — two of them, but we played clean. That’s really what I wanted to do is go out there and look like we knew what we were doing and be able to execute and line up and process information at a high level.
"So there’s a lot of stuff to clean up across the board with skill and the O-line. We’re using today and yesterday and the next couple to get ready and see if we can be better next time on the field.”
South Carolina's game against Towson will kick off at 7 p.m. ET, and it will mark the first night game for the Gamecocks this season. The matchup will stream live on SEC+.
