The South Carolina Gamecocks are looking to rebound after a low season in Columbia in 2025. One big reason that there is optimism in the Gamecocks hopes is the return of star quarterback LaNorris Sellers.

He will also be working with new offensive coordinator Kendal Briles, who head coach Shane Beamer hired from TCU this offseason. He is also expected to have much better protection along the offensive line, as Beamer landed offensive tackle Jaccarius Peak from the transfer portal.

Although no one knows for sure just how well Sellers' season in 2026 will go, he is already generating some major NFL Draft buzz. In a recent podcast interview, NFL Draft expert Todd McShay says he thinks Sellers' stock could be sky high because of one big reason.

"LaNorris Sellers is kind of the wild-card to watch out for, because he's so much more physically gifted than any other quarterback in this class," Todd McShay said as transcribed by Gamecock 247 during a recent episode of 'The McShay Show.'

"I think Sellers is phenomenally gifted," McShay added.

Although Sellers was eligible for the 2026 NFL draft, the rising redshirt junior opted to return for at least one more season at South Carolina. The decision was considered to be a smart one, as the signal-caller regressed from his breakout season in 2024. He threw for just 2,437 yards and had the fewest rushing yards (270) of his career. He was also sacked a career-high 43 times, which limited him as the season wore on.

McShay's co-host, Steve Muench, also suggested that Sellers can rebound as the Gamecocks are expected to have a much better season than the 4-8 mark from last season.

"When things go south, I think we already saw this with Sellers last year, bad habits start to really emerge," Muench added. "You start forcing. You start pressing. Your footwork starts to fall apart. You start getting off reads because you think, I've just got to make a play with my feet quickly here."

Sellers also will return his favorite target from last season in star wide receiver Nyck Harbour, as well as running back Matt Fuller. If he has a big season like he is expected to, there's no question that NFL scouts will be even more intrigued.
