Gamecock golf fans, rejoice! There is a Gamecock golfer that just etched his name in the record books. Frankie Harris, the redshirt junior from Boca Raton, Florida, officially qualified for the 2025 U.S. Open at the historic Oakmont Country Club after a stellar performance in West Palm Beach. Harris fired off rounds of 66 (-6) and 67 (-5) at Emerald Dunes Golf Club to finish T-1st at 133 (-11), sharing his medalist honors with Justin Hicks and Philip Barbaree.

Although the golfers dealt with a weather delay during the tournament, Harris stayed locked in across the 36 holes, notching 11 birdies, an eagle, and only two bogeys. He had previously earned co-medalist honors at Solina Golf Club in April with a round of 68 (-2). With his ticket to Oakmont punched, Harris has become the first South Carolina Gamecock to play in the U.S. Open since former All-American Matt NeSmith in 2022.

But Harris isn't quite finished making headlines for the Gamecocks.

Harris was also named Golfweek Honorable Mention All-American, marking the first All-American honor of his career and the first such honor under current head coach Rob Bradley. Harris becomes the 28th player in program history to be named All-American, contributing to the program's 45 all-time All-American selections.

These honors cap off a dominant season for Harris, who helped lead the Gamecocks back to the NCAA Championship for the first time since 2019. He tied for second at the NCAA Bremerton Regional, shooting a 205 (-11) with rounds of 72, 66, and 67. His season average of 70.97 led the team, and his top-five finishes tied for the second-most in a single season in program history.

Those nine career top-five finishes rank T-7th all-time for the Gamecocks. His three career wins are just two shy of tying Kyle Thompson's program record of five wins.

Looking ahead, Harris is poised to begin the 2025-26 season ranked inside the top-20 of the PGA Tour University standings, a key step towards earning professional status on the PGA Tour-affiliated circuits. With All-American honors, and a U.S. Open appearance on the horizon, Harris' PGA Tour dreams are well within reach. Frankie Harris is redefining greatness in Garnet and Black.
