We are officially under three weeks away from the start of the 2025 South Carolina Gamecocks Women's soccer season. The Gamecocks begin their season on August 14th on the road against the College of Charleston Cougars at 7 p.m. Eastern. They do have two exhibition games before that, though, one against the Furman Paladins (Aug. 3) in Greenville, SC, and the other against the Duke Blue Devils (Aug. 8) back in Columbia at Stone Stadium.

The Gamecocks look to avenge their 1-0 loss in the 2024 SEC Championship Game to the Texas Longhorns last season. They finished last season 11-4-7 with a 5-2-3 SEC record en route to the Championship game. The last time they won the SEC title was in 2022, and they were within one game of bringing it back home to Stone Stadium. Furthermore, they are also looking to make it 13 straight NCAA tournaments. One of the things they will be looking to continue is being a shutdown team, as they held opponents to 21 goals last season, while scoring 48 of their own.

The Gamecocks will be without Catherine Barry's 18 goals and eight assists in 22 games last season. She had 74 shots with 41 being on goal. Berry also had four game-winning goals. However, they will be bringing back sophomore striker Katie Shea Collins, who had 13 goals and three assists in 19 games (18 starts) during her freshman season. Collins made the All-SEC Second team and the All-SEC Freshman team. Furthermore, she even made the TDS Best XI Freshman - First Team. Collin's 13 goals were not only second on the Gamecocks, but second in all of the SEC.

If the Gamecocks look to get back to the SEC Championship Game, it will be through Collins who is poised to be the main striker for the team in 2025. They will also have junior midfielder Cuyler Zulauf returning as well following a three goal and three assist 2024 season. She played in 22 games, started in 15, clocking in 1,082 minutes last season.

The 2025 Captains are defender Gracie Falla and goalkeeper Tina Tsaousis, both seniors. Falla had two assists in 21 games started for the Gamecocks and looks to be the anchor of the defenders this upcoming season. Tsaousis started all 22 games for the Gamecocks in 2024, while only giving up 21 goals all season. She carried a 1.03 goals against average (GAA) in 2024 and had a save percentage (SV%) of .784% on 76 saves. What's even more impressive was that she had four shutouts last season.

The two seniors look to lead the way this upcoming season as the Gamecocks look to claim another SEC Conference Title and secure another trip to the NCAA Tournament. Stone Stadium will be a place to be at this fall in Columbia, SC.
