South Carolina baseball fans received good news, despite a frustrating season, as senior catcher Talmadge LeCroy announced his return to Columbia for a fifth season. He shared the news via the Gamecocks baseball X account.
LeCroy's comeback follows a rough season for the Gamecocks, during which he only appeared in17 games due to a thumb injury sustained on Opening Day and aggravated the injury again during the Clemson series on March 1.
LeCroy has been a consistent contributor to the team since joining the team in 2022. As a freshman, he played in 39 games with 27 starts, recording 24 hits, five doubles, 11 RBIs, and 19 walks, achieving .381 on-base percentage. In 2023, he improved to starting 52 of 55 games, hitting .289 with 39 runs, 10 doubles, a triple, four home runs, and 42 RBIs. Last season, LeCroy started 60 of 62 games, 45 runs, eight doubles, a triple, three homeruns, 28 RBIs, 38 walks, and was hit by pitches 14 times.
With the return of LeCroy, he aims to help the Gamecocks rebound in the 2026 season.
