The South Carolina Gamecocks landed the No. 1 seed for the SEC women's basketball tournament. Literally!

In a dramatic conclusion to the SEC women's basketball regular season, the No. 1 seed for the upcoming conference tournament was determined by a coin toss. Both South Carolina (27-3) and Texas (29-2) finished with identical 15-1 conference records. The coin toss was broadcasted live on ESPN by the SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey, awarding South Carolina the top seed.

The Gamecocks, who are the defending national champions, finished the regular season by also beating the No. 15 Kentucky Wildcats 78-66, while No. 1 Texas concluded its regular season with a win over Florida, 72-46. Their only losses come against one another.

Now that South Carolina holds the No. 1 seed placement, Texas follows with the No. 2 seed, and LSU and Kentucky completing the top four seeds. The SEC Tournament is scheduled for March 5-9 in Greenville, SC.
