South Carolina women's basketball isn't just easing into the 2025 season, they are making a statement. On Wednesday night, Dawn Staley's No. 2 Gamecocks flexed every ounce of their firepower in a 106-56 dismantling of Winthrop, improving to 5-0 for the fifth straight year. It was another statement win onto an already loaded November résumé.

Fresh off a gritty, reputation-boosting road victory over No. 11 Southern Cal, the Gamecocks returned home and looked every bit like a championship team. Three separate players, Ta'Niya Latson (24), Madina Okot (23), and Joyce Edwards (22), crossed the 20-point mark, something South Carolina has not done since the A'ja Wilson/Alaina Coates era in 2014. And they made it look effortless.

After Winthrop stole an early lead, South Carolina answered with a 16-2 avalanche that iced the game before it ever had a chance to breathe. The Gamecocks shot 24-of-31 from the floor in the first half while building a 61–27 lead at the break. Latson was perfect 7-for-7, Okot started 6-for-6, and Edwards at 7-for-9.

Okot, the Mississippi State transfer, delivered her most complete Gamecock performance yet: 23 points, 11 rebounds, three blocks, three assists, and overwhelming physicality on both ends. It was her third double-double this season and easily her most efficient performance.

Latson led the squad in scoring with 24 points, five rebounds, and four assists, a steal in 25 minutes on the court. She had 20 points heading into the half on a perfect 7-of-7 shooting. Meanwhile, Edwards notched 22 points, five rebounds, an assist, and a steal. She surpassed 20 points for the second time this season. Agot Makeer came off the bench with 12 points and seven rebounds, while Raven Johnson controlled the tempo with 10 assists.

This win marks the 25th 100-point game of the Dawn Staley era.
