As of February 17, 2025, the South Carolina Gamecocks women’s basketball team dropped two spots to No. 6 in the Associated Press Top 25 poll. This ranking is their lowest ranking of the season and comes after their recent 87-58 loss to No. 7 UConn, which ended the Gamecocks’ 71-game home winning streak.
With the defeat, South Carolina sits at 23-3 overall and 11-1 in SEC play, remaining tied with Texas atop the conference standings. If both teams keep winning, they’ll share the SEC regular-season title, with the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament decided by a coin flip.
The Gamecocks now trail Notre Dame, Texas, UCLA, Southern Cal, and UConn in the rankings, while LSU follows at No. 7. That top seven appears to have distanced itself from the rest of the country, but with two weeks left in the regular season, there’s still time for movement.
This week, South Carolina faces two SEC matchups. First, they’ll host Arkansas at Colonial Life Arena on Thursday, February 20, at 7:00 p.m. Then, on Sunday, they’ll hit the road to take on Vanderbilt in Nashville at 3:00 p.m.
