South Carolina stars earn All-American honors ahead of NCAA Tournament

Before the NCAA Tournament tips off, a few Gamecock stars were named as All-Americans

The 2026 NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament begins on Wednesday evening, and the South Carolina Gamecocks are one of four No. 1 seeds. The Gamecocks will face the winner of Thursday night's First Four game between the No. 16 Southern Jaguars and the No. 16 Samford Bulldogs. 

Before the tournament action begins, The Associated Press revealed its first, second and third-team All-Americans for the 2025-26 women's college basketball season. A trio of Gamecocks stars earned honors by the outlet. 

South Carolina's leading scorer in forward Joyce Edwards earned a spot on the AP's second team. The sophomore averages 19.6 points per game with 6.3 rebounds and another 2.4 assists. 

The Gamecocks' starting guard Raven Johnson earned third-team honors. Johnson is a senior this season and was a key returnee from last season's squad. Entering the NCAA Tournament, she is averaging 10.3 points per game with four boards and 5.4 assists per contest.  

And last but certainly not least, Gamecock senior guard Ta'Niya Latson earned an honorable mention on the team. She is South Carolina's second-leading scorer, getting 14.3 points per game with 3.5 assists per game.
