The South Carolina Gamecocks earned a huge Week 1 victory over Kent State on Saturday, winning 57-0. The Gamecocks' offense, under new offensive coordinator Kendal Briles, looked quite impressive, and put up 645 total yards of offense.
Although South Carolina shot up the ESPN FPI ratings to check in at 15th overall, the Gamecocks remain unranked in the latest AP and Coaches' Polls. South Carolina did receive some more votes in both polls, however. The Gamecocks earned the most votes in the Coaches' Poll, getting 36 votes. South Carolina earned the fifth-most votes, behind Louisville (125), Illinois (45), Boise State (43), and Arizona (42).
South Carolina was also outside of the AP Poll, but did receive votes there, as well. The Gamecocks earned the sixth-highest number of votes (19) behind Boise State (86), Florida (83), Michigan (69), Arizona (33) and Memphis (23).

Elsewhere in the polls, Oregon saw the biggest drop, falling four spots down to No. 6, after the Ducks just barely got past Boise State at home 34-27. LSU also went up three spots after shellacking Dabo Swinney and Clemson, checking in at No. 8 overall. LSU also received three first-place votes.
Texas A&M dropped two spots, and Washington also fell two spots to 19th after its 24-10 victory over Washington State.

There will likely be plenty of movement in next week's polls, as Week 2 features some big games. No. 6 Oregon goes on the road to face Oklahoma State, whereas No. 10 Texas A&M faces non-conference Arizona State. No. 11 Oklahoma goes on the road to face Michigan, and No. 12 Alabama travels to play Kentucky, as the Tide opens SEC play.
No. 18 Tennessee faces Georgia Tech on the road, but the biggest game of the night is No. 1 Ohio State taking on Arch Manning and the No. 4 Texas Longhorns at 7:30 p.m. ET.
South Carolina's best shot at cracking the rankings might be if the Gamecocks are undefeated after their Week 3 game against the Mississippi State Bulldogs. Of course, if South Carolina beats both Kent State and Towson in blowout fashion, that could help, as well as teams in front of the Gamecocks falling outside of the Top-25.
But if the Gamecocks beat Mississippi State convincingly at home to move to 3-0, South Carolina should crack the top 25 if they are still left out next week.
