South Carolina quarterback Dante Reno, a rising redshirt freshman, has entered the transfer portal. After one season as a Gamecock, Reno confirmed to GamecockCentral that he would hit the portal, relaying a heartfelt message to Mike Uva for Gamecock Nation:

“Gamecock Nation, thank you for everything. This wasn’t an easy decision. South Carolina is a special place, and it’s because of the people. That will never change.”

Reno's departure from the program marks a significant change for the QB room in Columbia, which is ever evolving under Shane Beamer. While Reno did not take the field last season, his presence in the locker room and leadership potential were present. His decision to transfer opens the door for further additions via the portal as South Carolina will look to further solidify the roster depth behind LaNorris Sellers.
