The South Carolina Gamecocks suffered their first loss of the season, losing 41-34 at home to Mississippi State. Although the Gamecocks led 16-0 early, the team collapsed in the second half, in a game that felt more like the 4-8 games South Carolina had last season.
Elsewhere in the SEC, Florida beat Auburn on the road, Alabama hung 50 on Florida State at home and Georgia beat Arkansas so bad that Razorback fans are already questioning the hire of Ryan Silverfield with the team's 1-2 start.
Let's take a look at the latest SEC Power Rankings after Week 3. As a guide, we'll take a look at ESPN's latest FPI rankings for the conference, but we'll use our own judgement to rank all 16 teams respectively.
Week 4 SEC Power Rankings
1. Texas Longhorns(3-0): I honestly thought about putting Georgia up top here first, but I don't think the Bulldogs have played a team as talented as Ohio State. After taking care of UTSA 30-0, we'll see how Arch Manning does on the road against Tennessee this week.
2. Georgia Bulldogs (3-0): Death, Taxes and Kirby Smart having dominant teams each and every year. The Bulldogs are 14-point favorites against Oklahoma this week.
3. Alabama Crimson Tide (3-0): Alabama has had a couple of slow first-half starts, but took care of Kentucky and Florida State over the last two weeks. South Carolina will be looking for their first win in T-Town since 2004.
4. Ole Miss Rebels (3-0): Trinidad Chambliss is for real, and he proved firsthand why Lane Kiffin tried to get him to come to Baton Rouge on Saturday. He gets his biggest road test yet, playing in The Swamp against the Florida Gators this week,
5. LSU Tigers (2-1): Pete Golding got the best of Lane Kiffin in his long-awaited return, and Sam Leavitt struggled to find consistency in the passing game. It's a quick turnaround for the Tigers this week, taking on a Texas A&M team that wants to rebound after a shocking home loss to Kentucky.
6. Tennessee Vols (3-0): True freshman QB Faizon Brandon has been sensational in his first three weeks, throwing for 552 yards with six touchdowns, including another three rushing scores. He gets his first big test against the Texas' defense this week.
7. Texas A&M Aggies (2-1): The Aggies had a shocking 31-21 home loss to Kentucky, giving up 21 points to the Wildcats in the third quarter. Aggie quarterback Marcel Reed threw two interceptions. This team has to rebound quickly, going on the road to play LSU this week.
8. Florida Gators (3-0): Florida went on the road and won at Auburn for the first time since 1994. But the Gator defense has allowed 583 total yards over the last week, and that won't cut it against Chambliss and the Ole Miss Rebels offense. Florida can't afford to have 138 penalty yards like it did last week, either.
9. Missouri Tigers (3-0): Tiger quarterback Austin Simmons has thrown for eight touchdowns already, and improved to 3-0 with a 27-17 win over Troy. The Tigers go on the road to face undefeated Mississippi State.
10. Oklahoma Sooners (2-1): Oklahoma just barely got past New Mexico at home winning 14-6. Quarterback John Mateer has thrown three interceptions this season. He'll have a tough time playing Georgia's defense on the road this week.
11. Mississippi State Bulldogs (3-0): Kamario Taylor's team overcame a 16-0 deficit to win big on the road against South Carolina. The Bulldogs return home after back-to-back road wins to take on an undefeated Missouri Team.
12. Kentucky Wildcats (2-1): Kentucky played great in the first half against Alabama, but fell flat in the second half. The Wildcats made up for that and gave Will Stein his first signature win, upsetting Texas A&M in the second half.
13. South Carolina Gamecocks (2-1): The Gamecocks looked like a new team in their first two weeks, but crumbled against MSU at home. Shane Beamer will have to get things fixed in a hurry this week, taking on Alabama on the road.
14. Auburn Tigers (2-1): Auburn's defense gave up 495 yards of offense to Florida, and Alex Golesh lost his SEC opener as the Tigers' new head coach. The team can bounce back against Vanderbilt at home this week.
15. Vanderbilt Commodores (3-0): The Commodores are undefeated, but have yet to play an SEC team. We should get a better idea of how good this team is against Auburn.
16. Arkansas Razorbacks (1-2): The Razorbacks extended their 12th-straight loss to an FBS opponent against the Bulldogs, which is a school record. Razorback fans even had paper bags over their heads during last week's blowout loss to Georgia. Not great!
