Folks, it's officially talking season in the SEC. Next week, the annual SEC Media Days kicks off, this year being held in Tampa, Fla. Every year, each SEC team is represented by their head coach, as well as three players to bring with them.
For the Gamecocks, head coach Shane Beamer will be attending his sixth SEC Media Days in 2026. This year, he's bringing along three of his biggest star players, including quarterback LaNorris Sellers, wide receiver Nyck Harbor and safety Peyton Williams.

For Coach Beamer, there's no question that he will be asked several questions about his future in Columbia. In fact, he has already openly admitted that following his 4-8 season in Columbia last season, he will start the season squarely on the hot seat. He will likely be asked several questions about the changes he made this offseason, including hiring Kendal Briles as his new offensive coordinator, as well as new coaches in Stan Drayton and Randy Clements.
As for the players, the selections aren't a huge surprise. Quarterback LaNorris Sellers is the face of this team, and he is looking for a big bounce-back season in 2026. He is expected to excel in Briles' new offensive scheme.
Transfer-portal additions like Jacarrius Peak and Emmanuel Poku along the offensive line should also help him greatly both in pass-protection and when he wants to take off and run. Across his three seasons in Columbia, the signal-caller has thrown for 5,057 yards with 33 touchdowns and 15 interceptions, adding another 995 yards and 13 scores on the ground.
Sellers' leading receiver in Nyck Harbor will also be in attendance in Tampa. He's coming off his best season in Columbia in 2025, getting 30 receptions for 618 yards and six touchdowns, averaging 20.6 yards per catch. Don't be surprised if he reaches 1,000 yards receiving for the first time in his career.
And last but certainly not least, the Gamecocks are bringing along star safety Peyton Williams to represent on defense. The redshirt senior finished last season with 50 total tackles, a sack and a forced fumble along with two interceptions.
In 2026, he will lead a defense that finished 59th nationally in passing defense, giving up 216.3 yards per game.
Obviously South Carolina fans might be a little more excited for SEC Media Days if the Gamecocks didn't have a 4-8 season last year. But this is a chance to get excited about the upcoming season, which will be kicking off in just a couple of short months.
On Tuesday, July 21, South Carolina will be sharing the SEC Media Days stage with Auburn head coach Alex Golesh and his players, Georgia's Kirby Smart and Vanderbilt's Clark Lea.
Previously, SEC Media Days had been held in Hoover, Ala. until 2021, when the event began rotating to different cities every year, such as Atlanta, Nashville and Dallas. 2026 marks the first time Tampa is hosting the festivities.
