South Carolina has been hit with their biggest news after the regular season to this point, other than the news that they probably weren't going to be making the College Football Playoff this season. The Gamecocks are most likely losing their offensive coordinator, Dowell Loggains, to a head coaching position.

There are rumors that Loggains is about to be offered the head coaching position at Appalachian State, and it seems as though he is going to take it. The Mountaineers recently fired their head coach, Shawn Clark, earlier this season after going 5-6 this past season.

Loggains brings a lot of experience to Appalachian State, with nine years in the NFL and then three years in college football at Arkansas and South Carolina.

The news has yet to officially break, but it seems like the deal is practically done, and Loggains will be leaving South Carolina to go just a little north to become the head coach of Appalachian State.

South Carolina fans have mixed feelings on this, but the consensus seems to be that they are okay with it and already have a few names in mind for who should replace Loggains as the play-caller.

There are a lot of options for South Carolina and with the potential of the offense going forward, Beamer just might have his pick of offensive coordinators.

Then there are people who are extremely happy to see Loggains go, as South Carolina had certain feelings about Loggains as the season went on.

Shane Beamer has certainly built a great coaching staff at South Carolina, and it is clear he is building something special with the team as a whole, so whoever gets this job will have a lot of weapons to work with.

Of course, every coordinator is going to have their ups and downs, but Loggains, for the most part, called a good season offensively. The Gamecocks don't go on a six-game win streak and counting without the offensive play-calling of Loggains.

Some South Carolina fans already know who they want to take Loggains' position.

This seems to be the job that any play-caller would want as the South Carolina offense is looking it could be scary for a few years to come, especially with LaNorris Sellers at quarterback.
