South Carolina head coach Josh Goffi has his men's tennis program rolling. The Gamecocks swept Richmond at home 4-0, and beat No. 16 Michigan State 4-1 in the first and second round of the NCAA Men's Tennis Championship.Â
With the victories, the Gamecocks successfully advanced to their sixth-straight Super Regional in school history. South Carolina is 18-8 overall, with an 8-6 mark in SEC play this season.Â

Now, South Carolina will take on the No. 5 Virginia Cavaliers on the road in the Super Regionals on Friday, May 8.Â
The Super Regional features both programs playing in single-elimination. The winners will move on to play at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex in Athens, Ga., where the eight teams will play for the national championship from May 14-17. Â
Against Richmond, Lucas da Silva, Sean Daryabeigi and Atakan Karahan's singles performances helped bring home the sweep in the first round. Da Silva, a senior, is a native of Sao Paulo, Brazil, and is one of the highest-ranked Gamecock players in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).Â
Against Michigan State, the Gamecocks clinched in doubles, as Daryabeigi and Max Stenzer finished 2-0 in the first two rounds of play. The duo beat Sparty's No. 2 team. 6-4. Da Silva is South Carolina's highest-ranked ITA player, checking in at 14th overall. Daryabeigi and Barbier Gazeu are 73rd and 85th, respectively.Â

South Carolina faces a tough opponent in Virginia
The Cavaliers are 24-4 overall this season boasting a perfect 12-0 record at home. UVA defeated Rider and No. 26 Columbia to advance to the Super Regionals. The team is led by the nation's No. 2 overall ranked singles player in Dylan Dietrich, who is 26-4. Keegan Rice is ranked 15th, entering with a 32-5 overall record.Â
These two programs have faced each other 18 times in school history, with a 9-9 record between the two. The Cavaliers and Gamecocks last played each other in 2025, with South Carolina falling 5-2.Â
Coach Gotti will look for his team to continue on its deep postseason run against Virginia on Friday night.Â
