College basketball recruiting is still in full swing, with several big name players committing to their respective teams. One program rebuilding from last season is the South Carolina Gamecocks who are looking to get on the right track under head Coach Lamont Paris in 2026-27.Â
On Monday afternoon, Paris added the latest player to his transfer portal class in the form of Duquesne power forward Jakub Necas. The news was first reported by Gamecocks Central's Wes Mitchell.
Necas, who is originally from the Czech Republic, averaged 6.9 points per game last season with another 5.1 boards, and he averaged 50% shooting on the year for the Dukes. As a sophomore this season before he averaged six points with 4.4 rebounds per game shooting 39.4% from the floor. He helped lead the Dukes to an NCAA Tournament upset over No. 6 seeded BYU as a true freshman, scoring 12 points in the Dukes' 71-67 victory.Â
He will start the 20 26–27 season as a senior, having spent the first three seasons of his career at Duquesne.
Necas is expected to be an immediate contributor on the floor in Columbia, as he joins a transfer portal class featuring Wisconsin power forward Aleksas Bieliauskas, point guard Kory Mincey via George Mason, and Drexel shooting guard Shane Blakeney.Â
Although the window for players to enter the portal closed on April 20, players can still commit to respective teams after that date.Â
If Necas plays as well as he did at Duquesne, he can immediately elevate the Gamecocks' offense in 2026.Â
