The South Carolina Gamecocks basketball season might still be several months away. But the season felt a little bit closer on Thursday, as the SEC revealed 2026-27 home and away opponents for all 16 conference teams during conference play. The Gamecocks will be looking to rebound after finishing 13-19 last season, and missing out on the postseason entirely. Even worse was South Carolina's 4-14 mark in conference play.

Without further ado, here's a look at the Gamecocks home and away SEC opponents for the 2026-27 season:

Home opponents:

  • Alabama
  • Arkansas
  • Auburn
  • Ole Miss
  • Texas
  • Texas A&M

Away opponents:

  • Kentucky
  • LSU
  • Missouri
  • Oklahoma Tennessee Vanderbilt

Home-and-away series:

  • Florida
  • Georgia
  • Mississippi State

South Carolina got wins last season over LSU, Mississippi State, Oklahoma and Ole Miss inside the SEC. The conference was one of the deepest in college basketball last season sending 10 teams to the NCAA Tournament last season. The season before, the league sent 14. In fact, according to the SEC, the two-year average of 12 NCAA Tournament teams tops the prior single-season record (11) which was set by the Big East in 2011.

Although South Carolina missed out on the postseason in each of the last two seasons in Columbia, there is room for optimism surrounding the Gamecock's outlook for 2026-27. South Carolina is rebuilding with several new faces landed via the transfer portal and international players. From the portal, head coach Lamont Paris added guys like Aleksas Bieliauskas from Wisconsin, former Drexel guard Shane Blakeney, former Texas forward Camden Heide and Alabama addition Davion Hannah.

South Carolina also went overseas for three prospects, including Juan Fernandez from Argentina, Hugo Lopez from Spain and Mathais Vazquez from Brazil.

“We’ve gotten some guys that are that have been coached by some guys that I’ve been familiar with in terms of what they’re about and what coaching looks like for them," Coach Paris said via Gamecock Central earlier this week at his offseason press conference.

"Skill is always been a thing that I’ve been interested in," the coach continued. "But those were some of the immediate things that we wanted to address, just in terms of experience, we got guys that have played on winning teams at this level, more guys. We got probably guys that we were involved in more dogfights to acquire their services."

According to the SEC's official release, the regular conference season will begin on Saturday, January 2, and will go through Saturday, March 6. The SEC Tournament will be March 10-14 in Nashville.
