The South Carolina men's basketball team has continued to build up its roster for the upcoming season, and head coach Lamont Paris landed another commit this week. Class of 2025 forward Abu Yarmah has committed to the Gamecocks, announcing his decision on Monday via social media.
A Virginia native, Yarmah originally signed with High Point University but reopened his commitment after there was a coaching change. Yarmah played his final season of high school basketball at Moravian Prep in North Carolina and Overtime Elite, where he teamed up with current Gamecock commits Eli Ellis and Hayden Assemian. Ellis even posted a teasing comment on social media by saying: "What's that I hear? Another commit?
The three-star prospect, standing at 6-foot-7, averaged 13.8 points and 7.8 rebounds. In the title game, Yarmah posted a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds.
Yarmah was also offered by Appalachian State, Arkansas State, Ohio, and Old Dominion before choosing South Carolina. His commitment now gives the Gamecocks roster 12 players, with the expectation that Myles Stute will return soon.
