South Carolina's 2027 recruiting class includes just two verbal commitments, and Shane Beamer and his staff likely needs to beef it up in the coming months.
The good news is that the Gamecocks just made the final cut for an elite four-star wide receiver out of Richmond, Va. in Iveon Lewis. On Tuesday, Lewis released his final five schools, which include Maryland, Georgia, Kentucky and Virginia Tech along with South Carolina. His commitment date is set for July 1:

Lewis is rated as the No. 42 overall receiver from the class of 2027, and is the No. 6 ranked prospect out of his home state of Virginia, per the 247Sports Composite. His official visit for South Carolina is scheduled for May 1, with visits the rest of the month and into June already on the books. 247 also lists his interest level with South Carolina and Kentucky as warm, whereas his other finalists list cool.
The receiver would be a much-needed addition to South Carolina's 2027 class. It is currently without a wide receiver, as previous commit in elite four-star receiver Jaiden Kelly-Murray decommitted earlier this month.
The most successful first-round draft picks in South Carolina history
Over two seasons tracked by MaxPreps, Lewis had 71 receptions for 1,736 yards with 24 touchdowns. He plays high school football out of Huguenot High School in Richmond.
If South Carolina can land the elite receiver, it'll fill a huge need the for Gamecocks' 2027 class.
