Dawn Staley just made her first splash in the transfer portal, and it is huge! Former Florida State guard Ta'Niya Latson, the nation's leading scorer, announced Tuesday via social media that she's transferring to South Carolina.
Latson averaged an NCAA-best 25.2 points per game this season, setting a single-season scoring record at Florida State with 731 points. The 5-foot-8 junior shot 45.1% from the field and 34.3% from beyond the arc. As a starter for all 93 games she played at FSU, she averaged over 30 minutes per game and was a consistent force on the floor.
After entering the portal, Latson quickly drew attention from powerhouse programs like LSU, Notre Dame, Vanderbilt, and Ole Miss. However, South Carolina had an advantage over the other programs. Latson won state titles with Gamecock guard Raven Johnson, played AAU ball with MiLaysia Fulwiley, Joyce Edwards, Ashlyn Watkins, and Kamilla Cardoso.

Latson brings plenty of experience to South Carolina, and she has one year of eligibility.
