South Carolina is losing a number of players on the defensive line due to the NFL and graduation, but the Gamecocks are finding ways to get by. Last year, head coach Shane Beamer turned to the portal to round out his offensive line and it worked out great, so why not do it again?
The Gamecocks just scored a big player out of the transfer portal that could really help fill the hole that Kyle Kennard is leaving. Beamer went and got former 5-star defensive lineman from Texas A&M Gabriel Brownlow-Dindy.
Brownlow-Dindy is joining a South Carolina defense that ranked third in yards per game in the SEC and had the sack leader on their team. South Carolina is retaining the other top player on the defense with Dylan Stewart sticking around after getting a major NIL deal through the Garnet Trust.
In his sophomore season, Brownlow-Dindy recorded just one tackle after recording three in 2023, along with half a sack. The young pass rusher was on a stacked Texas A&M defense, but the former 5-star lineman should be a standout with the Gamecocks in 2025.
This is not the first defensive player or even the first defensive lineman that Beamer has brought in through the portal. Beamer also brought in freshman EDGE rusher Jaylen Brown from Missouri, a former four-star recruit out of high school.
South Carolina could have a very young defensive line next season, but it is made up of former high-ranked recruits. Brownlow-Dindy could have a bright future with the Gamecocks next season, but he will hopefully not deal with as many injuries as he did with the Aggies. With up to three years of eligibility left, this defensive line could be very dangerous, especially as they get more experience under their belt.
