The summer months are fast approaching, and South Carolina's coaching staff is hoping to turn up the heat with its 2027 recruiting class. Currently, it has just three members, but the Gamecocks are looking to add to that in the coming months.Â
In some good news for the Gamecocks and the coaching staff, one of the nation's top-rated safeties has South Carolina in his final five schools. Four-star safety Jayden Aparicio-Bailey, out of Prattville, Ala., released his final five schools, including South Carolina, Clemson, Georgia, Ohio State and Auburn:Â
South Carolina is a finalist for 4-star Maryland EDGE rusher
Aparacio-Bailey is 2027's No. 9 overall ranked safety for 2027, and the No. 6 overall prospect out of Alabama per the 247Sports Composite. Although he doesn't have a visit to South Carolina scheduled just yet, he has a few with his finalists on the books. The safety will go to Clemson on May 29, Georgia on June 5 and Auburn on June 12. 247Sports lists his interests for Georgia and Clemson as warm instead of cool, so those might be the top schools South Carolina has to recruit against for now.Â
We'll see if Shane Beamer and South Carolina can gain some traction on landing the safety in the coming weeks. If added to the 2027 class, he would join four-star safety Jernard Albright in the class.
