In the latest AP Women’s Basketball Poll, the South Carolina Gamecocks remain at No. 6, holding their position in a fiercely competitive national landscape. With a 25-3 record, Dawn Staley’s squad continues to show why they are a perennial powerhouse in the sport, even as other teams shuffle in the rankings.

2. UCLA
3. Notre Dame
4. USC
5. UConn
6. South Carolina
7. LSU
8. North Carolina
9. NC State
10. TCU
At the top of the poll, Texas (26-2) ascended to No. 1, swapping places with Notre Dame (24-3), which fell to No. 3 after a two-spot drop. UCLA (26-1) also moved up to No. 2, while USC (25-2) and UConn (26-3) rounded out the top five ahead of South Carolina.
Despite their ranking, the Gamecocks have been dominant in SEC play, and their battle-tested roster remains a legitimate contender as the postseason looms. With LSU (27-2) trailing just behind at No. 7, South Carolina’s path to another conference championship and a deep NCAA Tournament run is set to be challenging but well within reach.
Staley’s team has showcased elite defense and a balanced offensive attack throughout the season. Their veteran leadership, paired with emerging talent, has positioned them as a team no one wants to face in March. As the SEC and national tournaments approach, the Gamecocks will look to build momentum and prove they belong at the very top of the rankings once again.
While the AP poll reflects the current state of competition, South Carolina knows that championships aren’t won on paper. Their focus remains on securing wins, improving each game, and making a statement when it matters most.
