The past two weeks have been wild for South Carolina recruiting and things continued on Mother's Day when big offensive lineman Jaxon Elston committed to the Gamecocks.
Elston, who has the size (6-foot-4, 325 pounds) of a classic road grader, is the sixth commitment for South Carolina since April 27. The three-star prospect from Oxford, Alabama chose the Gamecocks over Georgia Tech and Arkansas. He also held offers from Florida State, Auburn, Virginia Tech and a host of others.

3-star OL Jaxon Elston commits to South Carolina
Elston is the seventh member of the 2027 recruiting class, which has picked up in volume significantly. It's the third commitment on the offensive line, which has veteran coach Randy Clements guiding the ship this year. He joins four-star tackle prospect John Archer, from Fayetteville, North Carolina and three-star interior lineman Will Endicott from the Dallas metroplex suburbs.
South Carolina has been hot on Elston since extending him an offer on February 14th. Elston took a spring visit to Columbia in March to take in a practice. He was able to catch up with a familiar face too in linebacker Keenan Britt, who was his teammate at Oxford High School last season. While on that visit, Elston told 247Sports that his relationship with the coaching staff would be a deciding factor.
"I need the coaches to be able to develop me into a great player. I don't want to be too far from home. And I want to win," he said.
He has an official visit to South Carolina scheduled for June 5, sandwiched in between scheduled visits to Arkansas and Georgia Tech. There's no word if Elston will continue with the other planned visits now that he has made a decision. That date in June could turn out to be a huge recruiting weekend for Shane Beamer and staff, with several big targets expected on campus, including four-star wide receiver Javien Robinson and four-star, in-state linebacker Jackson Ross.
Currently, the Gamecocks' class is ranked outside the top 25, but they should expect a bump when the rankings are updated in a few days.
