The South Carolina Gamecocks could use some good injury news, just days after losing two wideouts for the season. It appears the injury gods are doing just that, as head coach Shane Beamer had some positive news on the injury front after it was announced that receivers Jayden Gibson and Jayden Sellers would miss the 2026 season entirely after suffering lower leg injuries in fall camp.
Per Beamer, there are no new injuries to report as the Gamecocks enter their third week of preseason fall camp. South Carolina is just a couple weeks away from opening the 2026 season at home against Kent State.
Shane Beamer: Nothing major to report on injuries after the two Jaydens. Nothing to keep anybody out of Week 1.

Beamer also updated the injury status of two of South Carolina's biggest stars in offensive tackle Jacarrius Peak and EDGE rusher Dylan Stewart. Neither of them have been fully cleared for practice just yet. But South Carolina's sixth-year head coach indicated that both guys continue to trend in the right direction:

Noted both had checkups last week.
"Everything was positive and ahead of schedule in some ways," Beamer added.
“They each have benchmarks that they’re accomplishing each week and checkups that they have with doctors and specialists," Beamer said of the two guys via Gamecock Central. And both of them had those last week and everything was positive and ahead of schedule in some ways. So they’re both eager to get back out there and are closer and closer each and every day.”
Stewart is still rehabbing from a back injury he played through for most of last season, whereas Peak suffered a knee injury in February during a pick-up basketball game. South Carolina fans can breathe a sigh of release with Beamer's latest injury updates. The Gamecocks are still reeling from losing Sellers and Gibson, two guys who were expected to be big pieces of new offensive coordinator Kendal Briles' new offense. While the injuries likely mean that guys like Nyck Harbor, DJ Black, Lex Cyrus and Donavan Murphy will have to step up, Beamer said losing both guys wasn't easy.
"Had such a solid summer and was having a good preseason and you hate to see anybody get hurt,” Beamer said of Sellers via GC. “But we are here for them and we’ll continue to wrap our arms around those guys and the other guys on our team that are dealing with season-ending injuries that we’ve already talked about before and help those guys through the rehab process.”
Sellers is the younger brother of star quarterback LaNorris Sellers, who is also projected to have a big season in 2026. Per Beamer, his injury was a non-contact one.
While there are still obvious question marks about when exactly Stewart and Peak will be returning, South Carolina fans can be relieved that there aren't any more injuries to report.
The Gamecocks will open the 2026 season at home on Sept. 5 at 12:45 p.m. ET.
