Any fan of Gamecock Nation knows that the atmosphere at Williams-Brice Stadium absolutely electric. The tailgates, the rally towels, the Cock-a-boose, the fireworks, the Sandstorm! But does that gameday magic come at a premium? According to the 2025 College Football Gameday Index from Oddspedia, it certainly does. The site places the University of South Carolina at No. 7 among 100 NCAA football programs for the most expensive gameday experiences. They rank the average cost at $277 for two Gamecock fans on gameday. The study takes in several different aspects of an average gameday including two tickets, two beers, two sodas, two hotdogs, and parking.
It is the second straight year that South Carolina has landed inside the top 10 nationally. The Gamecocks also rank the fourth-most expensive gameday experience in the SEC, trailing only Alabama, Texas, and Georgia.
Most Expensive Gamedays (Nationwide):
- Colorado – $302
- Alabama – $295
- Texas – $292
Cheapest Gamedays:
- Western Kentucky – $84
- Arkansas State – $86
- Ohio – $100
South Carolina's in-state rival Clemson was ranked at 33rd at $208, moving up from 41st last year. Coastal Carolina saw a jump in cost from No. 91 to No. 79 after a 10.2% hike in prices, but recently made some headlines by offering free concessions, making them the cheapest in the country in those categories. Beer prices nationally range from $6 at Tulane to $20 at Stanford for two, while hotdog prices range from free at Coastal Carolina to $14 for a pair of hotdogs at some venues.
Across the NCAA, the average gameday cost is $184.67, up from $179.87 in 2024. South Carolina's cost rose 13.5% annually, primarily due to increased ticket prices, according to Oddspedia.
All that being said, while this ranking seems to track in some capacity, these numbers have to be based on specific scenarios, such as a non-conference game, certain seating locations, and baseline concession prices. Not to mention how wildly different parking locations can costs. Personally, I think the true cost for many fans, especially for marquee SEC matchups, is even higher once you factor in premium seating, parking upgrades, etc.
For Gamecock fans, the price tag might be fairly steep, but for many, the experience of a Saturday at William-Brice is priceless.
