South Carolina Football officially announced the addition of Mike Anthony to its coaching staff, bringing another familiar face to new offensive coordinator Kendal Briles’s side. Anthony is now officially listed as an offensive analyst on the Gamecocks’ athletic website, confirming earlier reports that he was being considered for a role in Anthony arrives after three seasons at TCU, where he worked closely with Briles in multiple positions. He was senior offensive analyst assistant in 2023, assistant wide receivers coach in 2024, and assistant quarterbacks coach for the 2025 season. The move reunites the two coaches, continuing a professional relationship built across several stops.

South Carolina Adds Mike Anthony to Offensive Staff Under Kendal Briles

“He’s a football guy through and through. That’s all he cares about,” Briles told The State in an earlier interview. “He’s incredibly smart, knows the offense inside out, and we just think the same. He’s also great on game days when it comes to making adjustments and helping me.”

Before his time at TCU, Anthony gained experience across several programs. He served as an offensive analyst at Florida Atlantic in 2017, before joining Houston in 2018 as an offensive analyst. He later spent the 2019 season at Florida State in a senior analyst role as well.

More Additions to South Carolina’s Offensive Staff

The addition of Anthony is part of a much larger reshaping of South Carolina's offensive staff under Briles. The South Carolina Football program also finalized the hires of Jacob Oehrlein and Jason Smith, both recently linked to staff openings.

Oehrlein spent the 2025 season as TCU’s assistant tight ends coach but will also serve as an offensive analyst in Columbia. Meanwhile, Smith, who is a former Baylor standout and NFL first-round draft pick, joins the Gamecock staff as assistant offensive line coach after coaching tight ends at Abilene Christian in 2024 and running backs there in 2025.

The trio of new coaching hires represent the latest wave of offensive-minded additions for head coach Shane Beamer’s program, as South Carolina prepares for the 2026 campaign under Briles’s leadership.
