Shane Beamer and company seem to be attacking the offseason with a vengeance, and for good reason. With the 2025 football season rapidly approaching, the Gamecocks coaching staff have every reason to be aggressive in the transfer portal. So far, they have added several potential impact players from the 2025 class, adding depth with key transfers.

What's the reason? This is our year.

Star quarterback LaNorris Sellers is entering his third season as a Gamecock and will be eligible for the NFL Draft after this year. Early 2026 mock drafts are already projecting him as a potential pick. So, could this potentially be the last year for Sellers? Beamer's staff seem to be treating that way.

The Gamecocks roster lost several defensive stars to the NFL Draft, including Nick Emmanwori, T.J. Sanders, Demetrius Knight Jr., Kyle Kennard, and Tonka Hemingway. And while Sellers and the South Carolina offense made headlines last season, it was the defense that held off some of the games that were too close for comfort. To address those losses, South Carolina as added ten new defensive players from the transfer portal.

Every SEC team wants to improve, and South Carolina's moves certainly feel intentional and urgent, not only to build depth but also to capitalize on the opportunity with an elite quarterback in Sellers. His skillset on the field and leadership both on and off the field make him arguably the most dynamic QB in recent Gamecock history.
