The South Carolina Gamecocks are still searching for a quarterback for their 2026 recruiting class, and one of their top prospects have narrowed it down. Four-star QB Landon Duckworth announced his final five schools on Thursday, with South Carolina making the cut. The other teams in the running include Ole Miss, Florida State, North Carolina, and Auburn.

A native of Alabama, Duckworth is ranked as the No. 55 overall prospect in the 2026 class, the No. 6 quarterback, and the No. 5 player in the state, per the 247Sports Composite.

The talented signal-caller has official visits scheduled with Auburn, Georgia, South Carolina, Florida State, and Ole Miss. However, with Georgia recently securing a commitment from five-star QB Jared Curtis earlier this week, Duckworth may opt out of a visit to Athens.

Shane Beamer has yet to land a quarterback in this cycle and has missed out on some key targets, such as Brady Smigiel (Michigan commit) and Jared Curtis. That makes Duckworth the top remaining priority for the Gamecocks.

While Ole Miss is widely viewed as the favorite, South Carolina will have the chance to make its pitch when Duckworth makes his official visit.
