South Carolina's 2027 recruiting roadmap is finally starting to reveal itself, and Shane Beamer's staff continues to push their chips in early on top-tier defensive talent. Momentum might be focused on closing the 2026 class navigating portal season, but that hasn't stopped the Gamecocks from carving out a seat at the table with one of the premier rising juniors in the nation. On Thursday, four-star EDGE Rashad Streets, a 6-foot-4, 230-pound disruptor from Millbrook High School in Raleigh, NC, released his Top 12 programs, and South Carolina made the cut. The Gamecocks are in elite company alongside some blueblood giants like Georgia, Ohio State, Tennessee, Florida State, Alabama, Clemson, Oregon, NC State, Michigan, Nebraska, and Texas.

Streets is ranked inside the Top 100 of the 247Sports Composite, already carrying the frame, motor, and burst that P4 defensive coordinators salivate over. Florida State, Tennessee, and South Carolina were here his earliest major offers this season, proof that Beamer's staff evaluated him early ahead of the national feeding frenzy that followed.

While it is still early in the recruiting marathon, On3 currently lists Tennessee and NC State as slight frontrunners for Streets' commitment. His most recent visit was to Tuscaloosa, where Streets watched the Tide take down the LSU Tigers, adding another heavyweight to the chase. But make no mistake, South Carolina is legitimately in this fight.

The Gamecocks do not currently haved any 2027 commitments yet, which is normal for this stage. Right now, all focus remains on the Class of 2026, with early signing day coming up December 2-5. Immediately after that, the coaching staff pivots to the Transfer Portal window, January 2-16, before wrapping up with the traditional signing day on February 4.

As of mid-November, South Carolina sits at:

  • No. 21 nationally
  • No. 10 in the SEC
  • 15 total commits

The 2026 class still features a potential flip scenario from one of the nation's top prospects, as well, keeping this staff in the national conversation as the finish line approaches. Beamer's recruiting blueprint remains clear: identify early, build relationships earlier, and swing big on athletic upside. Landing in the Top 12 schools for Streets is another early signal that South Carolina intends to be a major player in the 2027 recruiting cycle.
