South Carolina head coach Shane Beamer has made a major midseason move, relieving offensive line coach Lonnie Teasley of his duties, per GamecockCentral. As reported by Wes Mitchell and Chris Clark, run game coordinator and tight ends coach Shawn Elliott will assume the role of interim OL coach. An official announcement is expected later today.
Teasley was in his third season leading the offense after taking over for Greg Adkins in January 2023. He originally stepped into the role during the 2022 season, when Adkins faced a minor health issue that limited his availability to coach. Before arriving in Columbia in 2021 as an offensive analyst, Teasley spent two years as the offensive line coach at North Carolina Central University.
This move signals another chapter in Beamer's ongoing effort to stabilize South Carolina's offensive front, a unit that has battled inconsistency and injuries throughout the season so far. The Gamecocks rank near the bottom of the SEC in both rushing production and sacks allowed.
